GEN I: Chapter 13

Later that same night:

Jenni decided it would be better for her to nap on the couch next to Hayden so she can make sure she gets up as soon as he needs something. When she woke from her nap though, Hayden was still asleep. While she was sitting on the couch her father called, and sounded pretty upset. He asked if she would come visit for a few minutes. She agreed to, since they only lived a few houses down.

He had called to tell her that her mother, Renee, had passed on that day and he needed some comfort. Jenni apologized that she was not there earlier, she was probably at the hospital. There was a new baby in the family.

Jenni could tell that her father was happy about the baby, but also still heartbroken that his 50 year marriage was over. On top of being heartbroken, he was kind of angry that his wife left him so abruptly. Jenni tried to console him and calm him down. It seemed to help a little bit, but it would never make those feelings go away completely.

She told her father she didn't want to but she had to go. Hayden was probably going to get up soon, and she wanted to be there when he did. She hugged her father and told him everything would be fine. Before she left, she made sure to talk to her son for a few minutes. Chase seemed really happy said he loved living with his grandfather. He also apologized that he had not called her or anything, he had been busy. Jenni gave him a loving hug and left.

When she got to the house she peeked through the window and saw Hayden still fast asleep in his crib. Looking at him for a moment she felt bad he did not have his own room. She figured now was a good time as any. She opened up the mailbox and sent in the check for the house. §14,360 was sent through the mail. That made her a little nervous, but she trusted the mailman. She then picked up the phone and called for a taxi so they could leave right then. Jenni went inside to wake her family and usher them outside for the waiting car.

Alan was a little surprised to have his wife waking him in the middle of the night, and thought something was wrong. When she told him they were moving, he understood and got right up. They all got in the taxi and headed to their new home. During the ride Alan realized that their new place was closer to his work place. Maybe he could even jog there now. He still had not let go of his wish to be an astronaut.

The taxi pulled up to the house, and they all piled out.

They finally did it. They were finally here. Jenni was so happy to be walking into her new home.

Just some shots of the new house

At about 3:30 that morning Alan woke to his baby's cries over the monitor. He was already fully rested, so he chose to let his wife stay in bed, and he would take care of Hayden. As soon as he walked into his son's room, his nose was assaulted by a horrible smell. Alan made the discover that baby diapers are not the best things in the world.
After Hayden was taken care of, Alan got himself ready for a workout. He did not have to work today, but needed to exercise his muscles. Alan took a quick shower, had a protein shake and brushed his teeth.

As he walked into the gym, Alan realized he hadn't been here in a while. Then he wanted to work out until he couldn't go any more. He started off by lifting weights.

When Jenni woke that morning, she could not wait to take advantage of her spa-like master bathroom. Still needs some decoration, but they would get that in time. Maybe even some new wallpaper. When she gave the plans of the house to the construction company, she hadn't picked any wallpaper, so they went with basic white.

After her bath, Jenni went in to cuddle Hayden and play with him a little bit. Soon after she picked him up her cell phone rang. It was her son. Chase just called to say hello, and give her an update on how Lenny, her father, was doing. Jenny told Chase about the move, and the new house. She invited him to come live there as well, but he said he couldn't leave his grandfather now. They chatted for a few minutes, then said goodbye and hung up.

Jenni then told little Hayden all about his older brother, and that she hoped the two boys would meet one day. Hayden started to fall asleep while Jenni was feeding him. So after he finished his bottle Jenni laid him in the bed for a nap. This would be a good time to start digging.

Jenni couldn't wait to start her garden. She had collected the fruits from the public garden to start her own when they moved in. She sectioned off a little space for her plants, and one tree, and started to plant.
It was just their first day in the new home, but Jenni knew she was going to love it. She did not have much longer before she would be an older woman and was glad she had a garden to tend when she was retired.
Alan got back from the gym as fatigued as could be, but still had enough energy for a snack and romantic times with his wife. He was glad she was so happy in the new home. They had only been here a day, but he could tell she loved it. Alan was also happy that the house had opportunities to expand, should it need it.

  1. Aww this is very nice...you know what would look amazing in their ensuite bathroom! That triangular bathtub...it's so hot! I really hope Chase eventually comes to live with his mom. It would be nice to have the whole family together. And Alan seems like he would be a good step dad as well.
