GEN I: Chapter 11

**Warning: Longer post than usual

Alan woke the next morning and tried to sneak out of bed as quietly as possible so as not to wake his wife. He thought about the previous day and night, the conversations, agreements and activities. Thinking of their attempts for a baby almost made him want to wake Jenni, but he didn't. Alan had to work today so he got up, showered and ate. He did not want to leave the house without saying goodbye though, so he snuck into the room thinking he would just kiss her and go. To his surprise, she was up and making the bed.

Jennie kissed her husband goodbye, he was going off to work. She thought for a moment she would feel a little odd in this house alone all day. That thought quickly subsided when she remembered she had made plans for the day, she had stuff to do. Jenni showered, ate breakfast and brushed her teeth. As she dressed in her normal clothes, she wished they were maternity. She still was not positive she was pregnant, but was hoping.

Jenni wanted to learn how to garden. At first she wondered where to start, but remembered there was a public garden here. She went there to harvest some plants and trees. Jenni was getting pretty excited about starting her own garden, but she wouldn't do it at her current house. It wasn't going to be permanent, so she couldn't see why. She felt an odd sensation rising in her abdomen, and then...

She had to hit the public bathrooms. With that she smiled at her self, and said aloud "We are definitely having a baby!" She was so excited. Jenni changed into her maternity clothes and went back out to the garden to finish.

She paused every once in a while to feel her tummy, imagining a little baby inside. She couldn't wait to meet her child. Jenni continued to harvest 2 more plants and an apple tree. It was nearing time to go, the construction company building her new home told her she could visit today at a certain time. One more stop to make and she will be on the way.

Jenni stopped at the grocery store to pick up a couple things she had been craving. Like cobbler and grapes, she was not a big fan of grapes but today she really wanted them. She picked up the things to make cobbler, and would eat the grapes she had picked from the garden.
After the grocery list was filled and paid for, Jenni left to see the house being built for her. It was completed, just looking for the family to move in! She was so happy, this was her home, she knew it. She went inside to browse around and plan the furniture placement. Looking around she remembered the construction man telling her the unfurnished price was only $14,000. That was not so bad! Her family funds at the moment though were not quite that high, even when they got the money for the selling their current house. Not disheartened Jenni went home to her husband. She would wait as long as she had to for that house.

When Jenni got home, she found Alan was already there and doing a workout in the living room. He stopped his stretching and kissed her hello. "I missed you today, Jenni" he said "Where did you get these clothes?" Jenni smiled, she realized he didn't know yet. "Well Alan, we are expecting our first baby!" Jenni said, "I found out today while I was out." Alan was shocked, their first attempts had worked. He was very happy.
Alan kissed his wife and felt her belly "What do you want a girl or a boy?" He asked Jenni "I'm hoping for a boy" he said. Jenni replied "Oh honestly I really want a girl, but either would be fine, as long as the baby is healthy." Alan asked if she had slept well, he thought he felt her get out of bed last night. She did tell him that she was out of bed once, she had been sick.
Alan held Jenni's hand for a moment, and said "Lets go out to dinner at the Bistro for a small celebration!" Jenni agreed even though she wanted to save every penny they earned. Alan and her dressed in formal clothing and left the house.

They had a marvelous dinner and dessert. When they got home the two shared a very romantic hug. Jenni might be pregnant, but for some reason she was feeling oddly frisky and suddenly wanted to do a little more than that with her husband.
While Alan brushed his teeth she started to relax in the bed. Jenni heard him finish up and called him to her. As he walked in the room she told him she was feeling a little frisky and to come to bed with her. He did and they had a blast, legs flew out from under the covers.

After a long and great nights rest Alan and Jenni woke at the same time. Jenni had started to feel the baby kick inside and was getting more and more excited about the pregnancy. Alan seemed to share her feelings, he couldn't wait to talk to the baby that morning and also listen close. He thinks he heard something, maybe it was a heartbeat? Or he just heard the baby kicking Jenni's liver.

Alan asked if his wife had slept alright, he was very concerned for her well being. She said she slept fine, but was pretty hungry. Jenni showered while Alan started breakfast. They ate their waffles and washed the dishes.

Alan could not wait to show Jenni a toy of his own, that he had packed away from when he was little. He had named the bear Possum, but said that she could change it if she wanted. Jenni laughed and said "Possum? What kind of name is that for a bear?"
"I don't know, but apparently it was my favorite word and that's what I called the bear" Alan replied, he laughed to.
Still holding Possum Alan told Jenni he had thought about it, and moving would be a good idea. "This house wasn't built for children, originally I had planned to expand if this day ever came," he said "But now I'm thinking a new place would be perfect." Jenni was glad he said that, she wanted to show him the house she had built for them, but not right now.
Alan got in showered while Jenni watched a little television. Alan came out and started to read "Totally Preggers: An Expecting Mothers Tale".
Jenni got a call, answered it, and said "Alan I'll be right back, I'm just headed to the Science lab for something". She walked out the door. While she drove there, she thought 'This is a good way to earn a little extra cash, and it does not take that much time, nor is it dangerous'.
It took a few moments for Alan to register what she had said, he was really involved in that book. When he did, he got very worried. Alan was worried about Jenni a lot lately. He had to follow her and make sure she was okay, and did not go in to labor while she was out.

He pulled up to the Science Lab as she was walking out. "There you are!" he said "I don't want you to just leave like that anymore, you are pretty far along and due anytime now! I may be strong physically but when it comes to you and this baby, I don't think I could handle anything happening to you"
"Relax Alan this baby is not due today, we'll be fine!" Jenni replied. Jenni hugged her husband, and decided it was a good time to show him their, hopefully, new home. "I want to show you something," she said "Get in the car."

They went for a short drive down a street lined with beautiful houses. While driving past Alan kept thinking 'I'd love to get Jenni one of these dream homes'. When Jenni parked in one of the driveways and stepped out, Alan was a little confused. She pulled him out of the car and told him that she had this house built for them, and it was theirs if they wanted it. She also admitted that she desperately wanted this house. "It's only $14k and we aren't that far off from getting it!" Actually with that job she had done for the Science Facility, and just half a days pay from Alan they would have enough to get them the house and maybe $1,000 buffer. Jenni explained this to Alan and practicaly jumped up and down at the thought of buying the house.
"Alright, if this is the house you want, we'll get it. As soon as we have the money." Alan said. Jenny squealed with excitement and kissed her beloved.
They went home that evening after she showed him the inside of the house. The two had dinner and went to bed. Jenni dreamt of nothing but the new house they were going to have.

Meanwhile ...

Alan woke to the sound of someone opening the front door. He knew the only thing it could be. Alan also knew he could handle it easy, but wanted to call the cops just in case.

Jenni was still sound asleep as he dialed 911 and ran out to confront the suspect. Just as the burglar was thinking they got away with the diswasher and it would resell for a pretty penny, she looked up and saw the cop car and policeman waiting for her outside. She stood still. As the policeman approached her, she saw only one way out. This officer was old, and frail. She was young and fit. She attacked him.

She won.

Not for long.

Alan decided then and there, that he wasn't going to have this. He let the officer attempt it first, so he wouldn't have any charges place against him, but he wasn't going to let the robber get away!
He walked right up to her, she didn't move, maybe she wasn't expecting him to do anything. He jumped her and shoved her face into the ground. He heard her nose break.

Alan won that round, and the police officer cheered him on. The officer was still a little upset that he lost a fight to a burglar, a girl burglar even. Maybe it was time for him to retire. Alan took back his dishwasher and kicked the burglar off his property.

He returned to his wife, safe and sound asleep in bed. It took Alan a while to go back to sleep, but he did. He dreamt of the robbery and the fight. He had to work in the morning, but would tell his wife about it as soon as he got home. Also he would reinstall the dishwaser tomorrow too.
