GEN I: Chapter 6

Bright and early Alan was already up and ready to go, and the first thing he did was his laundry. Now that he had been able to afford a dryer, he was happy to do it. His morning went by pretty smoothly and after breakfast he put his dishes in the dishwasher. He stood there for a moment looking at the dishwasher. "I think I will just tinker around the house today." he said aloud to himself. While the dishes were washing, he went to take a shower and brush his teeth.
By the time he finished his morning things, the dishwasher had completed its cycle. Alan got out is wrench and removed the bottom panel to tinker around in there. Pulling out pieces here and cutting wires there. At some point, he connected a blue wire with a red one and...

He ignited a small fire in there! Alan tried to move out of the way quick enough, but the flames were faster. They leapt out from under the dishwasher and snagged the bottom of his pants. He tried to put it out with his hands but the flames had already crawled up his back and were burning his shirt. There was only one option...

Alan ran as fast as he could to get to the only water source that he could think of, that would be big enough for him. Quickly he turned on the water and attempted to extinguish himself. He succeeded but not before he singed his rear-end a little.

Alan quickly returned to put out the flames growing in the kitchen. He was a very brave man, so did not even hesitate to do so. Actually, secretly, he loved danger and loved a good challenge. The flames subsided and Alan reviewed the damages. Luckily nothing was burnt beyond repair. Aside from his self, the dishwasher was the only thing that caught on fire, and all it needed was a good cleaning up.

Maybe as a glutton for punishment, he continued his tinkering well into the evening. Although, he did leave the dishwasher alone. Alan ended up upgrading the sink and stove into self cleaning objects. Which he was happy about, two less chores to do.

That night Alan dreamt of the fire, and installing a fire alarm.
In the morning everything was back to normal, even his burns seemed to be fine. He did his normal morning routine and headed off to work.

That day at work Alan worked pretty hard on all his duties. At the end of the day the work paid off and he was promoted to flight officer. He was thrilled. Alan decided to visit the park after work for a little while, just to ease the day. When he got there, he ran into a man named Mitch.

Mitch and Alan shared a trait, they were both handy. The two spoke of tinkering for a while, and seemed to get along nicely. Alan was so thrilled about his new job, he chose to share the moment with his new found friend. Mitch seemed happy for Alan and congratulated him. Alan then changed the topic to televisions, "Yeah I want to get one of those big plasmas, and was hoping this promotion would get me enough money to purchase it, but I am just shy of having enough." he said. Then he asked Mitch if he could have a couple of simoleans to get him a little closer. "Of course man, anything for a friend." Mitch replied, as he handed over $13. Now, Alan had no intention of purchasing said television. He just needed to fulfil his need to mooch, sometimes it was pretty overwhelming.

That evening Alan went home and did a few hours of cardio to get out some tension. (Maybe you know the tension he needed to relieve) Afterwards he decided to have a protein shake to top off the exercise.

He drank his shake and figured he would sit and watch TV until he was ready to hit the hay. A few minutes into a very promising movie, the doorbell rang. Alan secretly hoped it was not Sofia, and went to answer the door.

When he opened it, he was relieved yet confused to see Penny at his door. He invited her in and they stood in Alans living room to chat for a few minutes.

Penny had actually just stopped by to tell him of the new menu at the Bistro and that he should go soon. Alan liked talking to Penny, he probably considered her his best friend, next to his boss. The continued talking and Alan then realized he had not told her that he had been promoted today. He did and she congratulated him. Pretty soon they were talking about aliens and favorite TV shows. Penny always showed interest in what Alan had to say, unlike Sofia. Too bad Penny was now married. Alan was getting pretty tired now, so he bid Penny farewell with a peck on the cheek, and she left for her home.

  1. I hope Alan realizes she's a married woman now... Though he seems to always be thinking of Sofia. Even though it's never a good thought, it's still a thought. ;) Onto the next chapter. :D
