GEN I: Chapter 9 Part II

'Sunset in Twinbrook'

Alan went out to make sure the preparations were complete for the wedding. It would not be big, just him, Jenni and her family. Plus a few of his friends, like Bobby. When Alan arrived, it was not as fancy as he would wanted for Jenni, but he liked it none the less.
Looking at his watch, he new Jenni must be home from work now, and ready to go. He called her from where he was and told her to come meet him. He had something to show her.

When she got there she was shocked, and could not figure out when he had the time to do any of it. She was happy that he had though.

He brought her to where they would be saying their vows, and asked if it was okay. Jenni said "It is way more than I expected, it is perfect. You did not have to do any of this though, I would have been happy with a private wedding."
"I would have given you more if I could but, there were restrictions" replied Alan.
Standing there looking at him, Jenni said "Well everyone is here already, lets do it now. I'm ready."
Alan smiled and said okay, he handed her his wedding band, and they started the ceremony. Everyone gathered around to watch an listen.

"I ,Jenni, take you, Alan, to be my partner, loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know. I eagerly anticipate the chance to grow together, getting to know the man you will become, and falling in love a little more every day. I promise to love and cherish you through whatever life may bring us." Jennie vowed with pure love in her voice, and small tears in her eyes. She slid the ring on his finger it fit perfectly.

"I want to be your lover, your companion and your best friend for the rest of my life. I promise to love and cherish you, to keep you close and with faithfulness be your prop and helpmate in times of need, to make you laugh and to hold you when you cry, to hold you in the highest respect and honor as you so deserve for the rest of my life." Alan vowed with a small crack in his voice a few times. Putting the ring on her finger, he hoped he had the right size. It was perfect.

With a kiss to seal their vows and promises, the two became a couple. There were a few whistles and 'awwws' from the guests as they kissed.

Some people threw rice, but most people just cheered. After the small and fast ceremony they had the salad that was brought by a private caterer. Plenty of polite conversation filled the air. One man was unfortunate enough to find a bug in his salad, he was not happy and left the party.

Jenni met some of Alan's coworkers. This was Lucy, the woman who would take Bobby's place, if he were to retire or pass on. Jenni spoke to all the guests in turn, and had a wonderful night. She spoke often to the young man pictured above. She seemed to get along really well with him.

Alan approached his new wife and asked if she was having a good time, and also enjoyed the ceremony. She told him it was perfect, and she was enjoying herself, but getting a little tired. Trying not to sound jealous in anyway Alan asked about the young man she had been speaking with.
"That is my son, Chase."

Alan was a little shocked to find this out, but smiled.

"I'm sorry I did not tell you before, I did not want to scare you away. Then everything happened so quickly, it just never came up." Jennie explained. "His father left before he was even born, and does not know Chase even exists. So you won't have to worry about him." she continued. Alan felt relieved that there would not be a strange man in his and Jenni's new life together.

Renee came up to her daughter and new son-in-law and congratulated them. She was coming to say goodbye, she had a wonderful time. Renee and Lenny, Jenni's father, left.
Next the caterer approached Alan, and Alan remembered that he had a few things to say to the man.

He was not happy that one of his guests had a bug in his salad and let the caterer hear all about it. He promised that he would never to business with him again and would spread the word about how horrible that was.

Also, Alan smacked him right across the face.

The caterer agreed that it was horrible, and he apologized profusely. He also said that it was a great party otherwise, and he was happy to be there. Alan thanked him but asked him to leave.

The party was over, everyone had a blast, even with the bug incident, and the groom slapping the caterer.

Alan and Jenni went back to Alans house. It was not until the cab ride home that Jenni realized she would be moving. "I'll have to go and get my things packed and bring them over." She mentioned to Alan, "It is a good thing I just live down the street!" The newlyweds laughed. They both climbed out of the taxi and Alan picked up his new wife to carry her into the house. She might have been a little heavy, but with all the weightlifting Alan has done in his life, she was a feather to him.

He laid her in the bed gently and cuddled up next to her.

A little peck of a kiss turned into a pretty nice kissing session. Everyone knows what happens next... they were so tired from working all day and having a party in the evening they fell fast asleep. Each one still in their clothes, and on top of the blankets. Body heat kept them warm through the night.

Tomorrow is a brand-new day for both of them.

  2. Well, that was a shocker. He didn't look like a child, either, so Jenni may be older than Alan guessed. ??

  4. Wow! Didn't expect to find out about a previous child! Alan seemed to take it pretty well though, either that, or he just took it out on the caterer. Haha. Glad to see the couple is happy.
