GEN II: Chapter 7

Jenni got a job offer from the police station to teach a class on charisma. She volunteered happily, and was there on time. She really enjoyed teaching other people everything she had learned about how to speak properly, and have people listen to you.

It has been a pretty uneventful weekend in Twinbrook. Most of the time the Fuller family have just been talking to each other and Hayden about his trip to Egypt. They also put in a little game time, and exercise. Hayden was working, but everyone else was enjoying some time at home.

Crystal and Damien have been getting along nicely, even though Crystal thought it a little odd to have an uncle not that much older than she. The closeness in age gave them things in common to talk about though, and they really enjoyed each others company.

Chase, Kenya, Alan and Jenni had their fill of the day and tucked themselves into bed. Damien stayed up to have a late dinner, and Crystal had some homework to complete. They were also waiting for Hayden to get home from work.

When Hayden did arrive home, he cleaned up all the dishes in the kitchen. He sat down and drank some juice while he conversed with his brother and niece before going to bed himself. Hayden helped Crystal with some questions on her homework as well. He then remembered that he had brought something back for her from Egypt.

It was a relic, that for some reason when he saw it, he thought of Crystal. So Hayden decided it best to give it to her. She absolutely loved it and pulled out an old pedestal to set it on.

Late in the night, just before midnight Crystal, Hayden and Damien sent themselves to bed.

Just after 2 am, Hayden and Alan awoke to investigate a strange noise they heard.

Alan happened to glance out of his window as he stood, when he did, he caught a glimpse of someone wearing the typical burglar suit. He chose to stand still and listen intently to where the robber was, so he could catch her by surprise.

To his amazement, and the burglars stupidity, she snuck right into Alan's own room. Like a fly to a spiders web. As soon as she entered, though somewhat startled, Alan jumped and attacked her. They struggled and fought there at the base of the bed for 20 minutes. She was a good match for him. Not good enough though, Alan won.

Nothing but the sirens outside had woken Jenni, she was deep in sleep. When she did wake she saw Kenya standing there next to her and the robber at the foot of the bed glaring at her husband.

"What the heck is going on here?!" she demanded to know.

"We have a burglar, Alan has taken care of her though everything is fine. The cops have arrived even though I don't think anyone has phoned them." Kenya informed her mother-in-law.

The policewoman came and arrested the thief. She awarded the family §500 for the capture of a wanted criminal.

Kenya and Jenni were awake now, and there was no sending them back to bed. Even though it was only 3am they showered and ate breakfast. Getting up so early gave them plenty of time to tend the garden they loved.

Hayden had given his mother the gifts he brought for her. A few of the items he brought back were some fruits of fire, some plums and cherries, also a special seed he found. Jenni planted the special seed nearly right away and thanked Hayden, it was the best present he could have brought for her. She could not wait to see what the plant will be.

The next morning Alan asked Hayden for a favor.

"Look, Hayden, do something for me will ya?" Alan asked.

"Sure anything pop, what's up?" replied Hayden

"I need you to get Chase out of the house." began Alan, "He is getting annoying, always hanging around here. I have things to do, and he gets in the way."

Hayden laughed at his father, "Of course I will, we'll head to the park to play some chess or something." Hayden called for Chase and told him they were leaving.

With Kenya and Jenni at work, Chase and Hayden at the park, Crystal doing her homework and fishing at the pond she loves, and Damien in his room painting, the house was Alan's alone. He liked it that way on occasion. There was a lot of cleaning to do, and laundry. Alan got busy.

It wasn't to long before he found himself working the last job on his to-do list. With no one in the way Alan gets jobs done quickly.

Pretty soon though he heard voices down the stairs. Every one was home now, and it was time for a celebration. Today is Damien's birthday. He is turning into that young adult he always seemed to be already. The family gathers in the kitchen for some wishes, and cake.

Damien grew to resemble his older brother a lot, you could not deny these two were brothers. In his younger years Damien had noted how the family he was growing up with always had things they needed. He vowed never to be without, and the family he has will never go without the things they want either. Damien was frugal.

Since Hayden had been away for a little while prior to his brothers birthday, he hadn't had time to finish the invention he was working on. Though he wasn't sure everything this gadget could do, he made it for Damien.

Damien loved the gift from Hayden, and said he would treasure it always, also figure out everything it could do. Or he might just put it on display.

  2. Hayden keeps reminding me of James Dean, probably you don't know who that is. He was a teen idol (he was actually 24) who died in a car crash. A big star in his day. Anyway, I think it's Hayden's hair cut and color.
